Chesapeake Bayhawks and Chicago Machine Announce Trade

Chazz Woodson and Jordan Levine swapped

The Chesapeake Bayhawks and Chicago Machine announced a trade today, bringing attackman Chazz Woodson to Chesapeake and midfielder Jordan Levine to Chicago. Both players automatically swap spots on their new team’s 23-man active roster.

“Trading a guy with Woodson’s talent is not easy; however, we think Levine fills a big need in our line-up,” said Machine Director of Player Personnel Scott Hiller.  “At this point in the season, you have to evaluate your needs. Therefore, this trade makes perfect sense for the Machine and the Bayhawks.”

This trade comes after rookie attackman Ned Crotty made his MLL debut for the Machine last week. With Crotty and the Leveille brothers on attack, Chicago was looking to add midfield depth. As the Bayhawks’ roster is full of talented midfielders; they traded to enhance their attack.

“Losing a guy like Levine definitely stings a bit, he does phenomenal things between the lines and sparks transition. We wish him great success with the Machine,” said Bayhawks’ General Manager Spencer Ford. “Woodson is a dynamic player who can break defenders down with his speed and quickness. We are very excited to see him in a Bayhawks uniform.”

Woodson was selected 20 th overall in the 2005 MLL Collegiate Draft by Long Island after playing at Brown. Since then, he has played for Long Island, Boston, Los Angeles and Chicago, but his best season was with the Los Angeles Riptide in 2008 when he registered 30 points. The trade reunites Woodson with Head Coach John Tucker and former teammate Ford.

Levine played at the University of Albany and was selected as the 10 th overall pick in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft by New Jersey. He wore the Bayhawks’ jersey in four games, contributing a goal and three assists. Prior to his brief time at Chesapeake, Levine helped the Toronto Nationals win the 2009 MLL Championship title with seven goals and three assists in 10 games.

The players will have a short time to get acquainted with their new teammates as the Bayhawks play the Denver Outlaws at 7 p.m. on Saturday and the Machine play the Boston Cannons at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday in Virginia Beach.
