ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After being limited to just one goal in his previous three games, midfielder Ben Hunt scored a game-high three goals, including a record-setting two-point marker, as the Chesapeake Bayhawks (10-3) earned their third win in the last four games with a 13-6 Major League Lacrosse victory over the Long Island Lizards (8-5) in front of 10,083 fans at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday evening.

With the win, the Bayhawks matched a franchise record by earning their 10th win while holding onto a share of first place in the MLL standings entering the regular season finale against the Denver Outlaws next week. Meanwhile, the Lizards had their three-game win streak snapped.

After the Bayhawks took a 2-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game on back-to-back goals from midfielder Michael Kimmel and attackman Danny Glading, the Lizards trimmed the margin to 2-1 when rookie midfielder Will Mangan scored an unassisted goal with 3:23 left in the opening stanza.

But, the Bayhawks quickly answered with three consecutive goals, including a pair of markers from attackman John Grant, Jr., to extend their advantage to 5-1 just over a minute into the second quarter.

After midfielder Mike Unterstein narrowed the gap to 5-2 with an unassisted goal with 12:49 remaining in the first half, the Bayhawks used goals from Hunt and Kimmel to build a 7-2 lead with 4:44 left before the intermission.

Rookie attackman Matt Gibson converted a pass from attackman Grant Catalino with 2:32 left in the first half, closing the margin to 7-3 at the intermission.

Just over two minutes into the third quarter, midfielder Kyle Dixon upped the Bayhawks' lead to 9-3 with his 13th two-point goal of the season, extending his MLL single-season record. Attackman Tommy Palasek answered by scoring off an assist from Gibson for the Lizards, but the Bayhawks countered with goals from midfielder Steven Brooks and attackman Ben Rubeor to increase the lead to 11-4.

The Lizards tried to make a comeback midway through the fourth quarter when midfielders Stephen Peyser and Brian Langtry scored back-to-back goals. However, the Bayhawks put the game out of reach with 2:47 left when Hunt scored a two-point goal to give Chesapeake a 13-6 edge. It was also the Bayhawks' 26th two-point goal of the season, breaking the MLL single-season record that was set by the Boston Cannons in 2002.

While Hunt led the Bayhawks with his four-point performance en route to Bud Light MLL Player of the Game honors, Grant added two goals with an assist while Kimmel contributed a pair of goals.

Gibson led the Lizards with a goal and an assist in a losing effort.

Notes: The Bayhawks reached the 10-win plateau for the fourth time in the franchise's history ... They also had 10 wins during the 2001, 2002 and 2005 seasons ... With his goal in the fourth quarter, Rubeor now has a point in 28 consecutive games, dating back to the 2010 season ... The Lizards were held to a season-low six points in Saturday's loss.
