Rookies lead Launch to 13-10 win in New York


HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (June 2, 2017) -- In their pro debuts, Nick Mariano and Sergio Salcido combined for three goals, helping the Florida Launch to a 13-10 win over the New York Lizards on Friday night at James M. Shuart Stadium.  

After a strong first quarter by the Launch, Matt Gibson of the New York Lizards tied up the game with just four seconds to go in the first half to change the momentum of the game. The teams combined for 12 goals in the third quarter, including seven by Florida. 
Austin Kaut proved the difference for the Launch with his 21 saves on 31 goals, improving his save percentage to .604 for the season. The two teams will face off again next Saturday down in Florida.
Austin Kaut saved 21 of the 31 shots on goal, giving him a .677 saving percentage for the game and was named Player of the Game.
Kiernan McArdle tallied three goals this game in addition to three assists, making him the fourth leading scorer for the Launch.
Nick Mariano, the rookie from Syracuse proved himself in his first ever MLL game by scoring two goals, the first to tie up the game at 7-7, and the second to give Florida the lead at 10-9.

Joe Walters (goal, 2 assists) became the fourth player in MLL history to record 200 assists in his career, joining Ryan Boyle (272), Casey Powell (234) and Conor Gill (211).
