Rattlers earn postseason trip with 14-13 win


GAME RECAP

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (August 5, 2017) – Jordan Wolf scored the go-ahead goal with less than two minutes left in regulation, lifting the Rattlers to a postseason berth with a 14-13 win on Saturday night. 

Rochester will play the Denver Outlaws in the semi-finals of the MLL playoffs next Saturday. It marks the franchise’s eighth trip to the postseason.

The Rattlers trailed the Machine by two at the half, but started the third quarter with three straight goals. 

After Marcus Holman tied the score for Ohio at 7:07 in the fourth quarter, Wolf dodged from behind the cage and netted Rochester’s 14th and deciding goal for the win. 

PLAYERS OF NOTE

Jordan Wolf had three goals and added an assist in his first game since July 16. 

Drew Simoneau earned Coca-Cola Player of the Game after winning 24 of his 31 faceoffs (77%). 

Mark Cockerton scored a season-high five goals. 

Peter Baum (2 goals, assist) finished the regular season with 52 points, tied with Denver’s Eric Law for the most points in the league.
