Hounds Earn Important Road Win and Snap Bayhawks' Seven-Game Streak

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Charlotte Hounds (7-6) used an 8-2 second period to power their way to a 20-10 victory over the Chesapeake Bayhawks (8-3) on the rain-soaked turf at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. Kevin Cooper led the way for the Hounds with four goals and added an assist, while Mike Chanenchuk recorded five points. The fourth-place Hounds are now a half-game ahead of the New York Lizards in the standings.

Cooper recorded two of his four goals in the first quarter before Myles Jones got the Bayhawks on the board. From there, Charlotte went on an 8-2 run, with two points each from Chanenchuk, Matt Rambo, and Joe McCallion. Two former Maryland Terps, Tim Rotanz and Dylan Maltz each added hat tricks for the Hounds.

Maltz has scored in all seven games in which he has played for the Hounds and has 17 goals on the season. Six of those have come at the Bayhawks' expense.

Despite four goals from Chesapeake’s Colin Heacock, all of which came in the second half, Pierce Bassett recorded the win in net for Charlotte. Bassett made 11 saves on 21 shots on goal, before giving way to Dom Lamolinara for the last three minutes of the game. The Bayhawks' Nick Amato suffered the loss after seven straight winning efforts in the cage.

The Chesapeake loss snapped a seven-game win streak and leaves them one game behind the first-place Dallas Rattlers. The Rattlers are on the road for a matinee in Denver on Sunday.
